Assigning Functions to virtual IEDs

Virtual IEDs can be associated with functions. The connection tool ‘Assign device’ allows drawing a line from a virtual IED to a function. All functions connected to the same virtual IED are intended to be implemented by the same physical device, and each function can be associated with only one virtual IED.

The Role assignment is crucial in the substation standardization especially when using application templating.
