Flexible Naming

A mapped virtual device can be used to modify the implementing IED’s data model. The ‘Flexible Naming’ right-click menu entry shows some options that add information from the specification to the corresponding elements in the IED:

  • Set LDNames (Functional Naming)
The LDName attribute of logical devices is updated to match its use in the specification. Note that this use needs to be unambiguous.

  • Set Logical Node Prefixes/Instances from specification
Logical Nodes in the device may have different prefixes or instances than the original specification calls for. Ordinarily, the specification values are adapted to the device. For devices that support changing prefixes/instance numbers, the specification values can be used to reconfigure the IED.

  • Initialize DAI descriptions with signal name
The user-defined process names that are associated with each signal can be written to the DAI elements of the device. Note that this only works if the DAI are already present - STS is not allowed to create new DAI elements as envisioned by the IEC61850 engineering workflow.
