Functions serve as structural elements to organize and manage logical nodes and can be assigned to Virtual IEDs.
Creating new Functions
New Functions can be created from the palette with several different tools.

New Function
Creates an empty Function without any existing content. -
New Equipment Function
If the current Function Specification Diagram belongs to a Single Line Diagram element that contains power equipment, this menu entry will be populated with one entry for each equipment. Functions created with this palette entry will be associated with the respective power equipment. -
Library functions
Functions can be stored as a template in an engineering library - these functions can then be reused using their corresponding palette entry. In the above example, there is only one Function from the library visible, ‘Time Overcurrent’.
