Preface

HELINKS STS is a System Specification and a System Integration Tool. As System Specification tool, it aims to reach a efficient and seamless integration of IEC61850 engineering and specification principles with the utilities existing engineering standards and solutions.

As System Integration tool, it aims to integrate IEDs from different vendors by providing device independent application and communication engineering combined with a powerful and flexible mapping to the IEDs of different vendors.

The HELINKS STS tool training provides the necessary guidance to use HELINKS STS and to develop the understanding how to integrate IEC61850 engineering in the overall SAS engineering process.

IEC 61850 Engineering process & Tool Demo

  • The IEC 61850 Engineering Process

  • A quick overview on the functionalities of HELINKS STS

  • Stepping through an example project.

Before people are working with the tool, we present an overview on the functionalities and the SCL Files the tool creates.

Example Project 1

  • Tool installation for the participants

  • Reverse Engineering of a small existing project.

  • Working with System Diagram (SCD)

  • ICD, IID and CID Files

  • Working with Single Line and Function Specification Diagrams (SSD)

  • Creating Project Documentation

Main objective of this part is to learn how to use the different editors of the tool.

Also here we will collect open issues on IEC 61850 engineering and SCL.

Step by Step guidance through System Specification.We start with an empty project and create a simple SSD file

System Integration

Step by step System Integration

  • Import ICD Files

  • Associate IEDs to specification

  • Create Reports, GOOSE and SV

  • Export SCD File

  • Create Project Documentation

We are using IEDs of different brands and build a complete SCD File

We create a project based on an existing library.

We learn how to create and modify the libraries

Note: The program is quite dense. There may be more time needed for the Engineering example, the Signal List, Logical Node Mapping and the modeling of how to implement templates.
